At the start of the business report, a staff member who said they had been in the district a few weeks said the 2023–24 external audit began last week and that the auditors should have a draft report before the September meeting. "We are looking at a a surplus for the end of the school year," the staff member said, and the district will evaluate where to place any surplus in reserves.
The staff member also raised the Smart Schools Bond Act allocation and stated, verbatim, that "the district had about 472,000, 100,000 left in, the smart schools bond allocation that we can do an additional project." They listed potential eligible uses—school connectivity (servers, cabling), high-tech security (surveillance cameras, visitor sign-on, badge access), VoIP phones and video intercoms—as possibilities that the district will explore.
