Board honors Junior High state track qualifiers and FFA state winners

The board recognized Junior High track athletes for state qualifying performances and Stark County FFA members for state-level awards and Gold-rated chapter status; multiple students will advance to national-level competitions.
During the June 15 meeting the board presented Pride & Excellence recognitions to Stark County Junior High state track qualifiers and to Stark County High School FFA members for state-level success.
The junior-high recognition listed multiple state qualifiers and noted three school records: the 7th Grade Boys 4x200 relay (1:51.99), Edward Bickett’s 8th Grade Boys 100m (11.46) and Jack Brodie’s 7th Grade Boys 100m (12.14). Superintendent Elliott said the achievement of reaching state ‘‘is not normal’’ and called it an amazing accomplishment for students and coaches. The board congratulated the athletes.
The board also recognized the FFA’s strong showing at the 98th Illinois State FFA Convention: six agriscience projects advancing to national judging, Toby Williams winning the Agriscience Proficiency Award and State STAR in Agriscience, chapter Gold rating with National Finalist consideration, and student selections for the State Convention Band. The board thanked teachers and advisors Ms. Wilkinson and Mr. Parrish for supporting students’ work and leadership.
