Committee discusses transfer station fees, hazardous-waste access and Complete Streets grants

Neil summarized the transfer-station discussion, noting Select Board direction for Ed to investigate bulk-fee collection for white goods and other large items. A member relayed a resident’s concern about hazardous-waste disposal frequency, saying the town’s current once-a-year schedule can leave residents with limited options: “He was just saying he was selling his house, and he had just hazardous waste, and it can be anything, you know, paint, oils, whatever. ... I have nowhere to do this and dump this,” the member reported. The committee also discussed Complete Streets grants, which typically fund construction while design and engineering costs fall to the town; members encouraged neighbors to work with the planning staff on grant applications and emphasized that design costs need to be budgeted locally if the town pursues projects.
