Playground vendors present two bids; board and parents club defer decision

Representatives from Byrne & Jones Parks Construction presented two proposals for a new Stark County Elementary School playground at the April 20 board meeting.
Ben Brown and Victor Mullen outlined a $399,000 full-install option (company-certified installers) and a $263,000 community-build option that would require 5–10 volunteers under Byrne & Jones project management. Discussion included inclusive swings and a communication board, phased purchase and installation possibilities, manufacturer lead times, and promotional pricing. SCES Parents Club President Karen Lisota confirmed $40,000 available toward upgrades; the board declined to act pending additional questions and research.
Byrne & Jones indicated that if the board approved a proposal that night, installation could be completed and tested before the August start of school.
