School board authorizes Hidden Meadows plat, delegates approval and execution of development agreements

The Columbus Public Schools board voted to authorize the final plat for Hidden Meadows Addition — a subdivision of approximately 80.34 acres of district-owned property west of 38th Street near 3rd Avenue — and delegated authority to the board president, superintendent or their designee to sign the final plat, site development agreement and related documents.

Under a resolution presented at the Jan. 12 meeting, the board authorized execution of a site development agreement and a development agreement with the City of Columbus and the private developer (Cottonwood Heights, LLC). The resolution delegates to district officials the authority to finalize construction and easement documents and to retain professionals and pay development costs as required by the agreements. The board’s action was framed as authorizing district participation in the platting process and enabling the district to accept the forms filed with district records.

Superintendent Chip Kay explained the resolution’s purpose as permitting the district to accept and execute infrastructure agreements and to cooperate with city and developer plans for public improvements adjacent to the district parcel. The development documents in the board packet specify the legal description of the property (West 1/2 of the Northwest 1/4 of Section 16, T17N, R1E) and note infrastructure work including utility easements and stormwater management in a special flood hazard area.
