Hutto ISD board certifies May 2 school board election; Chavez and Adams declared winners

The Hutto Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a special session on May 13, 2026, to canvass the returns of the May 2 school board election and certified the results. The board approved the official tabulation prepared from Williamson County returns and declared Felix Chavez and April Adams elected to the board, subject to taking the oath of office.

The board chair read the official tabulation aloud. "Felix Chavez received 555 votes," the chair said, followed by the other totals: April Adams 552; Samantha Martinez 196; Taylor Lopez 274; Lynn Green 392. The chair also stated there were 601 undervotes for the contest and a total of 2,570 votes cast.

After announcing the tabulation, the chair said the board found that the election was duly called and posted and that it had been held in accordance with law. The chair moved to approve the canvassing of the votes "as received from Williamson County for the 05/02/2026 Hutto ISD board of trustees election." The motion was seconded by Miss Jacobs; the chair then called for a vote and stated, "Motion passes." The transcript does not record a roll-call or individual vote tally.

The chair said the official tabulation will be delivered to the custodian of the local election register and that the return tally list and early-voting precinct reports will be given to the general custodian of election records. The chair also noted that the elected trustees are to take the oath of office before assuming their duties.

With the canvass completed and noted in the minutes, the chair adjourned the special meeting at 4:03 a.m. on May 13, 2026.
