MCOE reports $851,100 absenteeism grant and $50,000 rural/indigenous award; IT and solar work underway

Assistant Superintendent Nicole Liddell told trustees Aug. 11 that MCOE and partner districts were awarded a cohort chronic-absenteeism grant totaling $851,100, which will help fund outdoor-education and attendance-improvement efforts. Dr. Liddell also said Rebecca Bailey received a $50,000 award from AIEDU for a rural and indigenous community catalyst project; MCOE was one of 18 agencies selected and the only grantee in California.
Business and administrative services staff reported IT work on E‑Rate projects (phones, cameras) at several schools and that CALPADS and end-of-year reporting were completed. Staff said they will return with more detailed information next month about potential solar projects and how IRA tax credits may affect financing options.
Trustees thanked staff for grant work and noted the professional-development and coaching initiatives held over the summer, including conferences focused on AI, equity and leader supports.
