Commission staff reported that 56 applicants were approved to sit for the police officer exam scheduled for the coming Saturday, and estimated about 33 would appear at the local testing site.
Carissa Salvo said, "I think we ended up with 56 that were approved to sit with us," and added outreach included radio, Spotify and advertising on Stewart's gas pumps; staff said the application process and cross‑filing with other agencies typically reduce local attendance. Commissioners noted the recruitment effort and hoped for timely grading and processing so candidates could move on to interviews and possible entry to the January Police Academy.
No formal vote was required for the informational update; staff will proceed with the scheduled exam and follow normal processing for grading and candidate selection.
