The Civil Service Commission approved nine temporary, noncompetitive class appointments for school crossing guards at its Sept. 25 meeting.
Carissa Salvo, staff coordinator, explained these are annual temporary appointments that conclude on "06/30/2025" and said eight of the nine appointees are returning guards. Commissioner Joanna Zangrando moved approval, the motion was seconded and the commission voted to approve the slate.
Salvo added that the temporary positions are common because many seasonal and school-year roles require reapplication when the employment period ends; commissioners did not raise objections and the item passed on the record.
