Board accepts certified tax values and approves budget amendment including storm repairs

The board accepted certified tax values for tax year 2024, a report that Mr. Prado said arrived July 25 and showed values higher than budgeted — an increase "by over 1,800,000,000," he said. Trustees voted to accept the certified values.
In a related business item, Mr. Prado presented a budget amendment for FY 2024–25 that included carryover purchase orders (including a $134,000 truck for operations), technology security initiatives ($305,000), emergency communication software ($267,000) and other items listed together as a total of $440,534. In addition, the district requested $350,000 from fund balance for repairs after a May 28 storm. Mr. Prado said the district has applied to FEMA for possible reimbursement. The board approved the amendment by voice vote.
"Values increased by over 1,800,000,000," Mr. Prado told trustees when explaining the certified values. For the budget amendment, he described the rollover items and the district’s plan to seek FEMA reimbursement for storm damage costs.
