Board adopts 2026 meeting schedule, moves October meeting to avoid Indigenous Peoples' Day

Trustees moved to approve the Mendocino County Board of Education’s 2026 meeting schedule and amended the calendar to move the October meeting from Oct. 12 (Indigenous Peoples' Day) to Oct. 5. Trustee Priscilla (S7) requested the shift to avoid conflicts with cultural obligations and Indigenous Peoples’ Day observance; the amendment passed unanimously.
Trustees also discussed the CSBA masters‑in‑governance conference dates in March and whether the March meeting might need to be adjusted to allow trustees to attend. Staff and trustees agreed to keep the current March date for now and to revisit it if a majority plan to attend in person. The approved schedule will be posted and staff will follow up on any future date changes that the board requests.
