Board hears capital-plan updates: roofs prioritized, bus purchases earmarked

The board reviewed the district's capital-outlay plan, which includes roof warranty tracking, a schedule for athletic facility maintenance (including track resurfacing), and an in-progress transportation-office renovation. The capital plan was color-coded to indicate approved, requested and warranty status for individual schools and projects.
Speaker handling capital projects noted roofs with active leaks (Carroll, Oakland and White Law Ministry) are top priorities and that track resurfacing had board approval for upcoming bids. On transportation, the director said the budget reduced the transportation equipment line on paper by $1.5 million but earmarked that same amount in fund balance for bus purchases; combined with another $600,000 the district expects to fund approximately $2.1 million in bus replacements next year.
Board members asked about timing and the impact of moving earmarked funds, and the director said invoices and bond draws would determine final cash balances; the capital-projects fund currently shows substantial outstanding bond draws to be managed in the coming year.
