Sandy Anderson, who runs the district’s adult learning center under Barrie Tatum Academy, summarized program offerings and outcomes to the board. She said the center provides HiSET, basic literacy, ESL and citizenship classes, and two jail classes (HiSET and a "moving forward" reentry class). The center averages about 600 students per year and reported roughly 350 graduates in the last two years; Anderson said last year the VEIL program had 72 graduates.
Anderson described workforce partnerships and measured outcomes: many students qualify for state scholarships (HOPE, Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect) and local employers such as Taylor Farms have hired program graduates.
