Cumberland University to offer full tuition scholarships to top Wilson County early‑college students

Dr. Paul Stump, identified by the board as Cumberland’s president, and Reggie Blair, vice president of enrollment services, said the university will offer full tuition scholarships to the top three students in every early‑college cohort beginning this fall. "We will offer them a scholarship to Cumberland University to the top 3 in each early college cohort that comes through," Blair said, adding the awards will be determined using Wilson County rankings based on Latin honors, weighted GPAs and dual‑enrollment or AP credit.
The district’s director and board members discussed logistics; Blair said the awards will not “roll down” if recipients decline. Board members expressed appreciation for the partnership and noted Cumberland accelerated the program to start this academic year. The board did not take a formal vote on the presentation.
