Trustees were told the district prototyped the change with top student records and worked with information services to ensure Skyward can implement the new weights. To avoid disrupting current students, the change was framed to begin with the incoming 9th grade class.
Board members discussed implications for student course selection and college credit recognition. Supporters said the revision broadens rigorous options and gives students more scheduling flexibility. A motion to approve the revised EIC policy passed by voice vote.
Administration will finalize implementation timelines and communication plans for families and counselors.
