Board approves three administrative hires including Price Elementary principal

Mesquite ISD trustees approved three administrative hires — a principal for Price Elementary, a director of communications and an assistant director for food and nutrition support — by unanimous vote after receiving candidate bios and brief introductions.
On April 14 the Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees approved three administrative hires in a single motion. The motion (moved by Mr. Bingham and seconded by Mr. Carbone) covered the principal position at Price Elementary, the director of communications role and the assistant director for food and nutrition support. President Seward called the vote and the motion passed 6–0.
Following the approval, trustees heard brief introductions for each candidate. Dr. Fields introduced Gabriel Luna as the new principal of Price Elementary; Luna told the board he was "truly honored and humble to stand before you today as a newly appointed principal of Price Elementary" and expressed gratitude to the superintendent and trustees. Chief Communications Officer Sabrina Smith introduced Brenda Gonzalez, who accepted the director of communications role and thanked Dr. Rivera, board members and her family. The assistant director for Food and Nutrition Support Services, Tamika (Tomeka) Holman, also spoke, noting her experience and commitment to compliance with Texas Department of Agriculture regulations.
The board recorded the hires in its minutes and took photographs with the appointees.
