WAJ board approves multiple personnel appointments and substitute additions

On April 22 the board approved extracurricular and instructional appointments including a four-year probationary appointment for Madison Hoyt (effective Sept. 2, 2025), a long-term substitute appointment for Nina Berger through June 13, 2025, and addition of Susan Simpfenderfer to the substitute list.
The Windham-Ashland-Jewett Board of Education on April 22 approved several personnel actions. The board appointed Madison Hoyt to a four-year probationary teaching position in the Elementary Education tenure area effective Sept. 2, 2025 through Sept. 3, 2029, pending clearance from the Commissioner of Education and with compensation per the W-A-J Teachers Association Agreement. The board also appointed Nina Berger as a long-term substitute effective on or before May 7, 2025 through June 13, 2025 and added Susan Simpfenderfer to the district list of substitute teachers, teacher assistants and teacher aide/clerk pending Commissioner clearance.
The personnel items were part of the consent agenda approved by the board. The minutes note John Garzone was appointed to the volunteer sports pool and that the Board followed Education Law Section 3012(2) and Board of Regents rules, which were cited in connection with Madison Hoyt's appointment.
