The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees voted 6–1 on March 12 to authorize the district to apply for the Texas Education Agency's Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). Executive Director of Human Resources Dolloress Johnson briefed trustees on the program, saying the district would start with targeted high-needs campuses, use existing evaluation tools to limit disruption, and collect data in 2026–27 if the application is approved.
Trustee Sarah McMurrough cast the lone dissenting vote. Johnson told trustees that any payouts would be contingent on state validation and Texas Tech verification and that the earliest teacher payouts under the plan could occur in 2028, with funds directed primarily to top-performing teachers and support for their instructional teams.
