Trustee requests equity impact analysis after student trustee eligibility changes

One trustee (speaker 7) used the board‑reports portion of the Oct. 13 meeting to request a transparent equity-impact summary tied to the board's recent changes to student trustee eligibility. The trustee said staff had provided raw numbers with redactions but no percentages or analysis that would show how the criteria affect different student populations.
"We're given raw numbers... but no percentages, no analysis, in some cases, no data at all," the trustee said, urging staff to return disaggregated counts and percentages by race, gender and school site and to include that analysis when the board considers policies affecting student leadership opportunities. The trustee specifically asked for counts for five new eligibility criteria and for data that distinguishes incarcerated and formerly incarcerated students and West Hills (juvenile justice) students.
Staff acknowledged the request and said some small‑cell data had been redacted for privacy; the trustee asked that staff produce an equity impact report that provides disaggregated percentages and contextual analysis so the board can evaluate whether the policy advances equity. The board did not act on the request at the meeting but directed staff to follow up.
