The board voted to allow the promoter of a proposed student trip to Europe to advertise the opportunity to students and families after a detailed presentation on itinerary, safety and costs. Kristen Rolla, a high-school English teacher and chaperone, described an eight-day London–Paris itinerary with three nights in each city, group tour directors, included transportation and many meals, plus optional add-ons.
Rolla told the board the tour company provides "24-hour emergency assistance" and additional insured coverage for group-leader schools, and described flexible payment plans to reduce upfront cost for families. She noted an approximate full cost if paid up-front and emphasized monthly and biweekly plans as more manageable options for students and parents. After questions about minimum age (Rolla said a minimum of 13), adult-to-student ratios and fundraising, the board moved to permit advertising the trip to students.
Rolla closed by thanking the board and saying she would contact the tour director to begin advertising and start sign-ups. Staff and board members asked that any advertised materials clearly state chaperone ratios, payment deadlines and optional add-on costs.
