CDD will submit NPDES annual report to state before Nov. 1 deadline, staff says

Johnson Engineering informed the board that Lee County reviewed and approved the NPDES Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report and it will be filed with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in advance of the Nov. 1, 2024 deadline; staff noted potential future changes to sampling requirements.
Mark Zordan of Johnson Engineering presented the Lee County NPDES Permit FLS000035-004 Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report and told the Board that Lee County reviewed and approved the report. He said the next step is to submit the report to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection prior to the Nov. 1, 2024 deadline.
Zordan noted the CDD should expect possible changes to water sampling requirements in coming years and said a Johnson Engineering representative attends bi-monthly Lee County NPDES meetings and forwards minutes to the District Manager so staff stay apprised of any changes. District Manager Chuck Adams and staff discussed pond expectations and clarified that stormwater ponds are expected to catch and retain runoff and are not held to the same standard as natural lakes.
