Woodstock board authorizes application for urban forestry grant to inventory town trees

The Woodstock Town Board approved a resolution authorizing the town to apply for grant funding to conduct a tree inventory and develop a community forest management plan.
A presenter from the tree committee described the proposed scope: selected street trees, trail trees and landscaped-area trees across town, including areas covered by the town's tree law from Wittenberg Road to Plockman Lane, the Gateway District and state road corridors where state permits would be required. The committee has received a quote and is working with a DEC expert to scope the inventory. The resolution authorized the town supervisor (or designee) to execute grant materials and indicated the town would meet grant requirements if awarded.
Board members approved the resolution by voice vote. Committee members said the inventory would allow proactive maintenance and prioritization of tree work rather than waiting for crisis events.
