Board recognizes athletes and teams for state placings, robotics success
Summary
District leaders and principals recognized multiple state placers — including a gymnastics program with a long championship streak, wrestling state and national placers, and robotics teams advancing to world competition.
Administrators and coaches recognized student athletes and teams who placed at state and national competitions this season. Board members, principals and athletic staff praised the athletes’ dedication and coaches’ work during a public recognition segment.
Athletics director Mark Maslona highlighted the gymnastics program and its record, saying the team has an extraordinary streak of success. “We're in the in the process of, a winning streak in gymnastics at 23 straight state championships,” Maslona told the board as he introduced gymnasts and other state placers. Principal Jacob and coach Maria Schneider introduced individual students and noted state titles and individual qualifiers. The wrestling program’s state placers and national results were listed; several athletes were presented certificates.
Robotics teams were also recognized: the district reported multiple state championships and awards and noted teams were competing at the world championships in St. Louis. The board thanked coaches and athletic staff and congratulated students for representing the district.
