Engineer recommends applying for CDBG funds to upgrade First Street Playground access

Engineer Nassar reviewed the engineer's report and sought council approval to apply for a 2026 CDBG grant for First Street Playground access and parking improvements. He told the council the grant does not allow funding for playground equipment but would support parking, walkways and accessible spaces; Nassar said he would start plans for bleachers and design ADA-compliant parking spaces.
Nassar also updated the council on a Habitat development, saying he had met with the developer and expected finalized unit sizes in about four weeks. He reported the developer agreed to full-width paving in front of properties to address basin access concerns. Council members agreed to prepare a resolution for the April 21 meeting to authorize the CDBG application.
The council did not vote on the CDBG application at the April 7 meeting; staff were authorized to prepare plans and a resolution for consideration at the next meeting.
