Gladwin DDA discusses summer events, GBPA funding request and sound system bid

At the April 8 meeting board member Stacy Plude reported on several upcoming GBPA events: an Easter Egg Hunt, Thunder on the Strip (May 16), Miss Gladwin County, and the Gladwin Street Fair scheduled for July 11. The minutes note a mural selection will be made during the Street Fair and that Midland artists have shown interest; the board said additional funding support is needed for these initiatives.
Stacy also said the Thursday concert series will include bands, and she is awaiting a second quote to verify a sound-system demo amount she previously cited as $900; that demo amount does not appear in the current bid received. Separately, the board discussed a GBPA 2026–2027 funding request described in the minutes as about a $2,000 increase from the prior year; the board moved voting on that request to the July meeting so any appropriation would fall in the next fiscal year.
