Gladwin DDA to pursue part-time director, schedules workshop on job details

The Gladwin Downtown Development Authority agreed April 8 to pursue hiring a part-time director and to convene a workshop to define the position's job description, qualifications and pay.
At the meeting the board noted that the City Council wants the DDA to hire a director but does not want that person to be a part-time city–DDA employee. Board members discussed options for a secretary and treasurer and flagged that hiring a treasurer or combining banking with city accounts would require separate accounts and annual independent reviews, complicating bookkeeping. Cristy Gutierrez volunteered to email members so a workshop date can be set.
The board also discussed related budget priorities, including a GBPA funding request for 2026–2027 that the minutes describe as "about a $2,000 increase from the prior year"; voting on that request was moved to the July meeting to place the appropriation in the next fiscal year. The board did not take a final hiring vote at the April session and directed staff and members to return with the workshop outcomes for further action.
