Cedar Creek Middle School fails intruder detection audit; campus fixes doors and protocols

A safety audit presented to the Bastrop ISD Board found that Cedar Creek Middle School failed an Intruder Detection Audit after investigators were able to enter the building through an unsecured door and were not challenged by staff. Athan Schindler, Director of Safety & Security, presented the findings and the timeline of the audit.
Administration reported that the campus immediately repaired the locking mechanism, completed door sweeps, and held a staff meeting to reinforce visitor protocols; Schindler and the Safety and Security team provided additional support to the campus. Board President Ashley Mutschink thanked the district for the actions and reiterated that student safety remains a top priority.
