The Davison County Planning Commission voted to recommend approval of a variance allowing applicants Brian Wieczorek and Stacey Patrick to split approximately 9 acres containing a former farmstead from agricultural land in the W1/2 of the NE1/4 of Section 23 (T104N, R62).
Deputy Director of Planning & Zoning Karen Wegleitner explained the variance application to the commission. The applicants told the board they no longer reside on the property and want to transfer the old farmstead to a new owner while retaining the surrounding agricultural acreage. The Agricultural District requires a minimum lot size of 25 acres; the applicants seek an exemption to create an approximately 9-acre residential lot.
"The applicant was present to answer questions," the minutes record. On a motion by Ray Gosmire and seconded by Dave Anderson, the commission voted to recommend the variance to the Board of Adjustment; the roll call vote recorded Haines, Thiesse, Gosmire, Nebelsick and Anderson as voting aye (Bainbridge and Blaalid were absent). The recommendation does not itself change zoning; it forwards the request for Board of Adjustment action.
