Alvarado ISD board adopts Hill College tax rate, 6–1

The Alvarado ISD Board of Trustees voted 6–1 Sept. 9 to adopt a Hill College property tax rate of $0.048242 per $100 of taxable value. Trustee Perry Burnett made the motion to adopt the rate and Trustee Hector Velazquez seconded; Trustee Dana Walraven voted "nay." The motion passed with six members voting "aye."
The vote followed a public hearing on the district budget and proposed tax rates that opened at 7:00 p.m. President Tom Head called the meeting to order and said the hearing would be held before regular business. No members of the public spoke during the open forum. The approval applies specifically to the Hill College component of the tax rate as presented at the hearing.
