The Hutto ISD Board adopted 'Creekside High School' as the official name for the district’s second high school following a committee-driven process that emphasized student input and local history. Committee chair Josh Belliner told the board the public outreach window (March 25–April 25) brought 244 submissions, of which 18 met the district’s CW local naming criteria.
Student committee members and community representatives presented the recommended options and argued 'Creekside' connected to local geographic features and Hutto’s identity. ‘‘A total of 244 total submissions were received, with 18 final submissions meeting the proper criteria,’’ Josh Belliner said during the presentation. A trustee moved to adopt the name in accordance with district policy and the chair announced the motion passed.
Students who participated described vetting historical background, community input and uniqueness in their final recommendation. One student argued the name would help the new campus develop its own identity while still honoring local landmarks: "...we decided on Creekside High School because..." the student presenter said during the committee’s in-person remarks.
