Big Spring ISD Board approves $175,000 sale of former Anderson DAEP campus

The Big Spring Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 4-0 on Dec. 15 to approve a resolution selling the former Anderson D.A.E.P. campus at 229 Airbase Road to the Howard County Fair Association, Inc. for $175,000. The resolution specifies the district will reserve “all of the oil, gas, and other minerals” owned by the district.
The motion to approve the resolution was made by Trustee Jesse Salazar and seconded by Trustee Tom Olague; the minutes record the motion as "carried 4-0." The board directed the Board President and the superintendent to take actions necessary to complete the conveyance and authorized the Board President to execute the deed conveying title. The formal resolution cites Section 272.001 of the Texas Local Government Code and Section 11.154 of the Texas Education Code as the legal basis for the sale.
Exhibit A to the resolution describes the property as a 10.0-acre tract formerly used as the Anderson D.A.E.P. campus. The sale notice was published Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, 2025, as required by law, and the board found the Howard County Fair Association’s bid to be the highest and best received.
