Beckville ISD board finds full compliance with SB 546 financially infeasible, approves resolution

Superintendent Devin Tate said the district prepared a worksheet comparing replacement versus retrofitting costs and warned of warranty issues if seat belts are installed in existing buses. "I don’t really know that we should put $14,000 in seatbelts on a bus that wouldn’t even get $7,000 for a bus at auction," Tate said. On a motion by Justin Davis, seconded by Clayton McGuire, the board approved a resolution finding full compliance financially infeasible by Sept. 1, 2029.
