Immediately after the appointment, the board approved a separate motion to submit an application to the Texas Education Agency commissioner seeking a waiver of the superintendent certification requirement. That motion, made by Trustee Elias Ibarra and seconded by Trustee Laurie Leister, also passed 7-0. The minutes do not specify terms of the employment or relocation agreement beyond its approval.
