Executive Director of Communications Evan Moilan certified that Josh Coy (Trustee Place 3) and Priscilla Ruiz (Trustee Place 4) were unopposed for the May 2, 2026 Board of Trustees election; the board voted to certify that status.
Following certification, the board adopted an Order of Cancellation for the election under Section 2.053(a) of the Texas Election Code. The minutes record that a preclearance letter will be sent to the U.S. Department of Justice and that Certificates of Election will be issued to Coy and Ruiz at the May board meeting. The motions were approved unanimously by show of hands.
The board’s action means the district will not hold the May 2 election for those places because the candidates were unopposed; the minutes do not indicate any protest or challenge was filed at the meeting.
