The principal described how Minga houses combine 6th, 7th and 8th graders with advisors and run house competitions and rewards. The system also includes digital hall passes with configurable limits and automated parent notifications for points. The middle school reported 345 students (119 sixth graders, 123 seventh graders and 103 eighth graders) and said leadership classes plan spirit events and reward flex periods.
The board praised the presentation and invited families to stay for the school’s highlight portion of the meeting. Staff characterized Minga as a work in progress that has already improved campus climate and given students more leadership opportunities.
