Blanco ISD trustees approve hires, subcommittee changes and review 2026–27 budget

The Blanco Independent School District Board of Trustees on June 15, 2026 met at the Blanco High School Library and approved several personnel hires and governance changes while reviewing the district’s draft budget and compensation plan for 2026–27.
Trustee Aaron Lux called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and established a six-member quorum. Chief Financial Officer Tracie Moos reviewed the 2026–2027 Compensation Plan, Budget and tax-rate information, and the Board noted the Board Finance Subcommittee had previously reviewed those materials. Superintendent Dr. Tanya Tate told the trustees Blanco ISD is currently opted out of SB 401 (the UIL home-school participation matter) and that the deadline to opt in is Aug. 1, 2026; after discussion the Board chose not to take action during this meeting. A motion by Trustee Kathy Kersten, seconded by Trustee Stephen Mackey, approved adjustments to Board subcommittee memberships. Later, following an executive session on personnel, the Board approved hiring Brandon Henry as middle school principal, Jennifer Koepp as school psychologist, and Jimmy Flores Jr. as EAP/basketball coach, and accepted the resignation of Nicholas Wicker and the retirements of Brad Kinney and Teresa Hawkins. All recorded votes in open session were unanimous (6–0).
