Council President Bucci read a report from Mayor Chau summarizing a presentation by the Atlantic County Firefighters Association at the Atlantic County League of Municipalities meeting on April 17. The firefighters association expressed concerns about the current 911/emergency communications system and is supporting the county government’s effort to create a centralized Atlantic County 911 system; Bucci read that the association "offered to come to any municipality to discuss with elected officials their reasons." The mayor’s report was read on the mayor’s behalf because Mayor Chau was absent from the meeting.
Bucci also conveyed public-safety information from the mayor's report about a recent break-in and a stolen car that was later retrieved in Pleasantville; police urged residents not to leave their car fob or keys in vehicles. The mayor’s report noted that the newly hired police officer will begin department orientation on April 27 and begin academy training in Cape May on May 4.
