Northfield seeks CDBG funding and engineering for First Street Playground ADA access

Engineer Nassar reported that the Habitat project design is moving forward and that he, Councilman Dewees and Superintendent Boyd discussed a Community Development Block Grant plan for the First Street Playground that would add parking and an ADA-compliant walkway. He said they would come up with a plan and that the city needs to identify a state contract vendor for the bleacher project to avoid local bidding; he and Superintendent Boyd will also examine drainage solutions and present a budget.
Engineer Nassar told council that "they will be coming up with a plan for parking spaces and a walkway, all ADA compliant." Council approved Resolution 141-2026 (approval of the CDBG application for ADA-compliant parking and access) and Resolution 142-2026 (authorizing Schaeffer Nassar Scheidegg Engineers to proceed with engineering services) by consent vote.
