The Ballinger ISD Board of Trustees unanimously granted the superintendent final hiring authority to fill a vacant teaching position until the next regularly scheduled meeting.
The motion was made by Scott King and seconded by Jason Strube; the minutes record that the motion "passed unanimously." The agenda item specified the authority would last until the next regular meeting, which the superintendent previously noted will be held Jan. 12, 2026 when the annual superintendent evaluation is scheduled.
Why it matters: delegating hiring authority allows the district to fill instructional vacancies more quickly, but gives the superintendent temporary decision-making latitude that will later be reported to the board. The minutes do not identify the vacant position by school, grade level, or funding source.
