Mesquite ISD honors teachers, students and announces Perot Museum partnership

The Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees used part of its Dec. 9 agenda to recognize teachers, staff and students across the district. The board presented monthly Apple Corps awards to Jose Padron (Black Elementary) and Alyssa Navarette (Kimball Elementary); both honorees offered brief remarks of gratitude about teaching and the community that supports students.
Padron, the first honoree announced, thanked district leaders and mentors and reflected on his journey to teaching: "This isn't just a personal achievement, it's a reflection of the unwavering support that I've received from so many extraordinary individuals… I'm deeply humbled and incredibly grateful for this recognition," he said. Trustees also recognized staff members (including a 'star pair' award recipient, Tianna Lochner) and announced a community partnership with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science to provide free annual family memberships to more than 200 Mesquite ISD families.
The board further recognized students for fine‑arts achievements (one‑act play winners and Christmas card contest) and athletics (cross‑country qualifiers and West Mesquite Wranglers football team regional achievements), praising student success and community partnerships that support extracurricular programs.
