Board weighs replacing old water main ahead of DOT repaving project

Public Works told the Village of Lyndon Station board that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to repave driving lanes in 2027 from just north of the Interstate at County Road N to Highways 12/16, and on Flint Street between Lemonweir Street and Meadow Lane. Jeremy reported he spoke with DOT Project Manager Derek Potter and relayed that schedule to the board.
Jeremy advised that, because the state's work will repave driving lanes, the village may want to replace an aging main water line ahead of repaving to avoid tearing up newly resurfaced roadways later. He described a route from the Water Tower down Wisconsin Street then west on Wright Street to the Well House, and noted the need to replace some service lines, hydrants and valves. The board cited a previous estimate of about $1.2 million for a similar project and discussed exploring grant options (including Grants.gov) and a grant application Jeremy had submitted last year that remains pending.
No final funding decision was made; the board directed Public Works to continue exploring funding and report back so the village can decide whether to coordinate the water-main work with the DOT's repaving schedule.
