Council President Bucci raised a proposal at the March 24 work session to transfer plumbing inspections from an outside vendor to the City’s construction office, noting the construction official also holds a plumbing license. Bucci said CFO Stollenwerk’s analysis indicated performing inspections in-house "would be less expensive for us to do the inspections inhouse," and that the City would need to give the incumbent vendor 30 days' notice if it proceeded.
Bucci called a straw poll to move forward with Mr. Kohler accepting the plumbing subcode official/inspector role; "all members present were in favor of moving forward," and Solicitor Facenda was asked to prepare a letter to the vendor. The action at the work session was a direction to staff and not a final formal appointment; any official personnel appointment or contract change would follow required notice and formal action at a subsequent meeting.
