After closed session trustees adopt amended compensation plan and budget, partially grant one grievance
Summary
Following an executive session, the Brownsville ISD Board unanimously approved an amended 2026–27 compensation plan and amended budget and granted in part one Level III grievance (No. 034/25‑26) — directing reinstatement and back pay while denying cost reimbursement and expungement requests.
After moving into closed session to discuss personnel and grievances, trustees reconvened and reported several actions.
Trustee Neida Ruth Grantland moved to adopt the employee compensation plan as discussed in executive session; Trustee Jessica Gonzalez seconded the amended motion and the Board recorded a unanimous vote (7–0) to approve the plan with the indicated modification (amendment: Page 7 replaced with Page 7a in the official backup). The Board then amended and approved the Brownsville ISD 2026–27 budget as discussed in executive session by unanimous vote (7–0).
On grievances, the Board considered three Level III appeals. For Grievance No. 034/25‑26 (on S.C.), the Board voted to grant in part and deny in part: the trustees granted the requested remedies of reinstatement and back pay and directed administration to carry out the action according to policy; they denied requests for reimbursement of costs and for expungement of references. The vote on the grievance action was unanimous (7–0). The special called meeting adjourned at 12:06 a.m.
