Brooke Trahan introduced representatives from Communities in Schools of Houston and H‑E‑B, who explained the retailer's checkstand campaign and said funds raised in Brenham will be returned to the local community for purchasing school supplies. "For every donation that's made at our check stands in Brenham, that total amount raised will go back to the school district and be provided to you all to use in the form of purchasing school supplies of your choice," Lacey Del Corzales of H‑E‑B said. The board moved to accept the gift; the motion carried.
Board materials show the district will coordinate with Communities in Schools about how the funds are used and pursue the possibility of a future CIS program in the district.
