Owner told to finish permit process after county cites sheds and weekend RV occupancy

Alachua County alleged in hearing documents that sheds and other improvements at 15701 Northwest 28th Street were constructed or used without full permits and that an RV on site has been used as living quarters outside permitted temporary construction use. County recommended 30 days to remove unpermitted work or obtain after-the-fact permits and asked for daily fines if the respondent failed to comply.
Owner Dementry Silas, who said he snowbirds in Florida and resides primarily in Illinois, told the magistrate he had preapprovals for the garage and shed from 2021 and provided permit numbers during his testimony. The officer explained those were preapprovals that never resulted in issued permits; Silas agreed to go to the building department and reinitiate the permit process. The magistrate ordered a 30-day period for the owner to obtain required permits or otherwise remedy the cited violations and advised keeping the county informed.
