Bullard ISD board proposes $1.2469 tax rate for publication, schedules Aug. 26 budget hearing

The Bullard ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Aug. 12 to propose a maintenance and operations (M&O) tax rate of $0.7469 and an interest and sinking (I&S) tax rate of $0.50, for a total proposed tax rate of $1.2469 to be published. The motion to publish the proposed rate was made by Board President Cory Zahirniak and seconded by Trustee Chris McNertney; the minutes record the vote as 7–0.
Trustee Chris McNertney moved and Trustee Susie Saxion seconded a separate motion to set Aug. 26, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. as the date and time for the public meeting on the proposed budget and proposed tax rate. That motion also carried 7–0. The publication and the scheduled hearing initiate statutorily required notice and provide an opportunity for public comment before any final adoption of the tax rate.
