Bryan ISD honors teachers, students and community partners; celebrates AI school partnership

The Bryan Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its April 20 regular meeting with a series of recognitions for staff and student successes across the district. Board President Joel Bryan and district leaders presented elementary and secondary Teachers of the Month, named Yolanda Gaspar as Auxiliary Employee of the Month, and celebrated Bryan High School’s Shy‑Annes for winning a state championship.
District leaders also highlighted community partnerships and awards. Alonso Robles of Truist Bank presented gift cards to staff; the Bryan ISD Education Foundation received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Texas Education Foundation Network; and Director of School Leadership Dr. Leslie Holtkamp announced Davila Middle School’s partnership with Texas A&M University to participate in the Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge. “We are proud of our students and community partners,” Superintendent Ginger Carrabine said during the report.
The recognitions set a celebratory tone before the Board moved into routine business, with athletics, fine arts and education‑foundation representatives in attendance. Executive Director of Athletics Dereck Rush also recognized state powerlifting competitors from Bryan High and Rudder High and acknowledged the Bryan Youth Sports Association for its community role.
