The Brenham ISD board approved the purchase of library books Feb. 17 after a presentation by head librarian Charlotte Polk. Polk said the list contained about 179 items across grade levels and that the selections meet district criteria; she said the March meeting would likely be the last opportunity before the fiscal year deadline for purchasing so approved materials could arrive this school year.
Polk noted there were no public comments posted by the deadline and that she removed the prior list from the website and reposted an updated list for the March meeting. The chair called attention to a memorial book included on the list honoring Betty Hafner, identified as the mother of board member Kyle Hafner; the board acknowledged the memorial inclusion and then voted to approve the purchase so the books can be received before year‑end.
After the motion to approve, the board voted by voice and the motion carried. Polk and staff thanked trustees for their support; staff noted vendors will be asked to deliver items promptly pending purchase approval.
