Brenham ISD approves two‑firm architectural pool for bond projects

Trustees authorized a two‑firm architectural pool for the district’s upcoming bond projects during the Feb. 17 meeting, after staff described a competitive RFQ process and interviews. The pool approach is intended to give the district flexibility to match firms to specific work (HVAC, roofing, renovations and long‑range planning).
Superintendent Clay Yellentine summarized the RFQ process and said 15 responses were received. “We received a very strong field of responses from firms across the state,” he said. Board members noted the evaluation used a published matrix and weighed experience, team qualifications and capacity. One trustee explained the rationale for recommending a pool of two rather than a single firm to ensure fit for different project types.
Courtney Kelly, vice president of architecture at GLS, introduced GLS team members and thanked the board. Nico Ginzer, principal from Park Hill, also introduced himself and said Park Hill was eager to serve Brenham. The board voted to enter into contract negotiations with GLS and Park Hill under RFQ No. 251‑2025 and delegated authority to the superintendent to finalize agreements.
