A representative of Grays Harbor Youth Athletics told the Ocean Shores Lodging Tax Advisory Committee that the organization's LTAC allocation of $10,000 helped defray the costs of a fundraising weekend that included a golf tournament and a dinner with auction, and helped support a free youth camp.
"We got $10,000 for our fundraising weekend," the organization representative said, describing about 96 golfers at the tournament (a check-in sample showed 51 were from out of town) and roughly 300 dinner and auction tickets sold. The rep said the camp included about 20 former NFL players and coaches who volunteer to coach local youth.
The presenter emphasized the nonprofit's role in supporting pee wee and youth athletics countywide, the donated hotel rooms and volunteer coaches that keep costs low, and that the group's fundraising yields significant community benefit. Committee members asked logistical questions about venue choices and participant counts; the presenter said Olympic Stadium was chosen for field configuration and trainer access.
